EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR has been formulated with a simple 2:1 mix ratio and is designed for small castings, allowing users to create projects with thinner profiles, such as coasters and serving trays. It can be combined with Liquid or Metallic pigments to create custom colors and effects.

FlowCast SPR is intended for pours from 6-25 mm (¼-1″) per layer, with a maximum volume of 3 L. FlowCast SPR can be worked using the same tools you have in your woodshop.

With our ever-growing line of EcoPoxy pigments and accessories, we can support you with everything you need for your epoxy projects.

Used to Create:

Serving Trays

Drink Coasters

Decorative Art Pieces

Other Small-Scale Live-Edge Casting Projects

Mixing & Application Instructions

Mixing
Shake Part B well before use. In a clean, dry container combine (by volume) 2 parts resin with 1 part hardener and mix thoroughly for 4-5 minutes. Add Liquid or Metallic pigments as desired and mix until evenly dispersed.

Application
Working area should be clean, dry, and free of dust. FlowCast SPR can be poured at 6-25 mm (¼-1”) per layer. FlowCast SPR will not shrink while curing under normal conditions. However, it may slowly fill cracks and voids in live edge wood pieces, causing the resin level to drop. Be prepared to add more epoxy as needed.

Epoxy releases heat when curing. For pours deeper than 25 mm (1″) and/or at a volume greater than 3 L, multiple thinner pours may be necessary to prevent overheating. For best adhesion between layers, wait until the first layer is fully set to touch. Sand with 220 grit sandpaper and wipe down before pouring another layer.

I am an experienced FlowCast user. What do I need to keep in mind when using FlowCast SPR?

FlowCast SPR provides the same beautiful results as FlowCast with two key differences:

At the start of mixing, FlowCast SPR will feel slightly thicker and will be more difficult to mix. However, once mixed, FlowCast SPR will feel like FlowCast.
FlowCast SPR reacts faster than FlowCast and can reach higher temperatures while curing given the same casting size. This means you can create smaller volume or thinner profile projects that cure faster. However, this also means that FlowCast SPR is not suitable for large pours.

Can I do multi-layer pours with FlowCast SPR?

Yes, FlowCast SPR is suitable for multi-layer pours. Additional layers should be poured when the previous layer has reached set to touch. To prepare the epoxy surface for the next pour, scuff the surface with 220 grit sandpaper. Remove excess dust and debris, then wipe clean with denatured or isopropyl alcohol. You can then pour the next layer.

Can I pour deeper than 25 mm (1”)?

If you are planning to pour deeper than 25 mm (1”) and at a volume greater than 3 L, pouring in multiple layers is suggested to prevent overheating. In large quantities, FlowCast SPR can generate significant heat, which can cause projects to yellow or form cracks. If multiple pours of FlowCast SPR is not an option, for projects that require pours greater than 25 mm (1”) in depth, it is recommended to use FlowCast.

Do I need a seal coat for FlowCast SPR? What product do you recommend?

We recommend seal coating any surfaces that will be submerged in FlowCast SPR. Seal coats help prevent air and moisture migrating out of submerged materials, which can cause bubbles. UVPoxy is the preferred system for seal coats as it is a faster curing resin made for applying in thin layers. FlowCast SPR can also be used but will not get to the tacky state as quickly. Cured seal coats should be abraded and cleaned before proceeding with pours.

Will my FlowCast SPR project yellow over time?

All epoxies yellow over time. To combat this, we formulated FlowCast SPR with UV stabilizers. These additives absorb UV light and prevent damage to the resin. Eventually, the stabilizers will lose their effectiveness. Adding metallic or liquid pigments to FlowCast SPR will help it resist yellowing better than if it is left transparent. Completed projects should not be kept outdoors.

*Times based on 25mm (1”) deep casting at a volume of 1.7L. Individual project times may vary depending on pour depth, volume, ambient temperature, and humidity.

EcoPoxy 1.5L FlowCast SPR Kit - Small Projects Resin

UV Epoxy Resin

UVPoxy has been formulated with a simple 1:1 mix ratio and is designed for tabletops, wood finishing, and fluid art. It is a high-performance, two-component, water-clear epoxy system that resists yellowing caused by the sun and other UV sources.

Use UVPoxy by itself for a water-clear finish or add our Liquid, Metallic, or Glitter pigments to create custom colors and effects. It is self-leveling and can quickly be built up in 3.2 mm (1/8") layers.

With our ever-growing line of EcoPoxy pigments and accessories, we can support you with everything you need for your epoxy projects.

Resin for coating

With a maximum thickness of ⅛”, UVPoxy is perfect for use as a self-leveling, high-build finish on epoxy woodworking and art projects.

Resists yellowing

UVPoxy is specially formulated to resist yellowing caused by sunlight and other ultraviolet light sources. While UVPoxy has been formulated to resist yellowing, it is not recommended for permanent outdoor applications.

Water clear UV resin

UVPoxy cures to a water-clear, high-gloss finish that is compatible with many substrates. UVPoxy will self-level to approximately 1/16” if the resin is allowed to run over the edges of the workpiece.

UVPoxy allows woodworkers and artists to create pieces that are as beautiful as they are functional. Add Liquid Color Pigments, Metallic Color Pigments, and Polyester Color Glitters to achieve stunning results.

To avoid curing imperfections when adding pigment, do not add more than 3% of your epoxy mixture by volume and by weight.

Remember, always add a little at a time. A little goes a long way! You are always able to add colour if it’s too light, but you are not able to remove colour if it is too dark.

Tips for using Metallic Colour Pigments:

Mix for at least 2-3 minutes

If you notice your pigments settling, gently swirl with a clean tool while trying not to introduce air bubbles (to clean tools, wipe with denatured alcohol and allow it to dry). Keep the tool used for stirring immersed in the epoxy to reduce the introduction of air bubbles.

Check every 15-30 minutes to ensure the pigments haven't settled. If you notice any settling, gently swirl again.

Do not swirl when epoxy is in a gel-like state.

To avoid curing imperfections when adding pigment, do not add more than 3% of your epoxy mixture by volume or by weight.

Remember, always add a little at a time, a little goes a long way! You are always able to add colour if it’s too light, but you are not able to remove colour if it is too dark.

Woodturning Course - Full Day

10:00 to 16:00 including 1/2 hour break

What to expect

After a welcome drink and a safety briefing your tutor will outline the process to turn a bowl and help you select a bowl blank from a range of species.

We use the widely recognised teaching process of "Tell, Show, Do" where your tutor will make a bowl alongside yours to actively demonstrate the process and correct techniques.

By the end of the day you will come away with a completed bowl along with the knowledge and skills required to make a bowl in your own workshop.

If there is sufficient time available, you are able to purchase a second blank from our shop to create another bowl.

For a more advanced bowl turning course, choose our two day session where a variety of bowl shapes can be practised and different methods of finishing tried.

Our courses are limited to a maximum of three students at any one time to ensure that your tutor has plenty of time to spend with each student.
