<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">While your piece is still on the lathe, sand it to approx 240-320 grit taking care to remove any tooling marks.</p>

<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">Use a folded paper towel, apply the paste to the wood in a circular motion.</li>
<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">Turn on the lathe (500 rpm) and move the paper towel around the piece.</li>
<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">Keep going until the paste continues to break down and leaves no residue (you will begin to feel the abrasive breaking down, The more it's worked the finer the results).</li>
<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">Take a clean piece of folded paper towel and move around the piece (500 rpm). If the towel shows signs of the paste then repeat as necessary until the paper towel remains clean.</li>
<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">When you're done, the piece will have a finish of around 1000 grit.</li>
<li style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">For an even smoother result of around 2000 grit, use Northern Grit Ultra-Fine Abrasive Paste. Only use at low speed around 500 rpm as heat is created by friction of the Ultra-fines, lathe rpm can be increased slightly nearing the end of use.</li>

<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">After a welcome drink and a safety briefing your tutor will outline the process to turn a bowl and help you select a bowl blank from a range of species.</p>
<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">We use the widely recognised teaching process of "Tell, Show, Do" where your tutor will make a bowl alongside yours to actively demonstrate the process and correct techniques.</p>
<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">By the end of the day you will come away with a completed bowl along with the knowledge and skills required to make a bowl in your own workshop.</p>
<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">If there is sufficient time available, you are able to purchase a second blank from our shop to create another bowl.</p>
<p style="text-align: center; color: #000000;"><em style="text-align: center; color: #000000;">For a more advanced bowl turning course, choose our two day session where a variety of bowl shapes can be practised and different methods of finishing tried.</em></p>
